A focused ten-hour course
The private course is designed for people who want direct instruction without joining a regular class. It is suitable for complete beginners and can be undertaken individually, with one other person, or in a small private group.
The first lesson is two hours and combines introductory theory with physical training. The remaining lessons are normally one hour each and are arranged with the instructor.
What the course covers
Instruction is organised around practical self-defence rather than sporting competition. The course introduces:
- recognition, avoidance and early decision-making;
- protective movement and positioning;
- responses to common forms of physical aggression;
- creating an opportunity to disengage or escape;
- psychological and medical considerations relevant to self-defence; and
- responsible use of the training.
Specific content is taught according to the course structure, participant suitability and safe training progression.
Who private lessons suit
- People starting self-defence training for the first time.
- Individuals who prefer privacy and direct instructor attention.
- Partners, family members or friends who want to train together.
- People whose schedule makes weekly group attendance difficult.
- Experienced martial artists or combat-sport participants seeking a self-defence-specific perspective.
Acceptance and appointments
Places are limited by instructor availability. Applicants must meet the School’s responsible training requirements before course joining is approved. Evening appointments, especially early in the week, are commonly in the highest demand.
Submitting an enquiry does not confirm a place. Fees are payable after acceptance and joining approval, before the first lesson.
